Contemporary Dialogue Signs the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA)
We are pleased to announce that Contemporary Dialogue has signed the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA), reinforcing our commitment to fostering a research culture that values quality, integrity, and impact over traditional metrics.
DORA, first introduced at the 2012 annual meeting of the American Society for Cell Biology, has since become a global initiative advocating for fairer and more transparent research evaluation. It emphasizes that the scientific content of a paper is more important than publication metrics or journal identity and encourages a broader approach to assessing research contributions.
By endorsing DORA, we pledge to:
- Promote responsible research assessment by supporting diverse and transparent evaluation criteria that go beyond journal-based metrics.
- Evaluate research based on quality and contribution, rather than relying on journal-based metrics such as Journal Impact Factor (JIF).
- Recognize the broader impact of research, including societal, cultural, and policy-related contributions.
- Prioritize original research by actively encouraging the citation of primary research over review articles to emphasize novel contributions to the field.
